I am a huge fan of the book so I didn’t have my hopes high on this one. I will say that I was with the movie as sort of a seperate entity up until the woman and the boy. Everything before that I was okay with. I thought Will Smith did a great job of being the only actor on the screen. Carrying a movie like that is not easy. But he did a pretty good job. But then the woman and boy show up and things go down hill for me. A speech about Bob Marley? Come on. And then the end just sucked. So I would say it’s not a good adaptation of the book but that it’s an okay movie.

The Omega Man sucks. It does have some strange underlying themes on race that are interesting to think about.

I didn’t like the ending, and I agree about the bad CGI, but I still liked it pretty well. Natalie’s obsessed with Vincent Price, particularly Last Man on Earth, and she seemed pretty pleased with it. We were discussing it as a sort of extended political metaphor, following comments from a reviewer on NPR. But then, maybe the thing for me was just that it was a nice, snowy day, and we walked up to the theater and watched a movie and it was a pleasant day. I thought Will Smith was good, and they didn’t make him “cute” the way I expected so much as they made him crazy and sad.

I generally wouldn’t say “don’t see it” to anyone about most movies, because different people will like different things… but, yeah, I would say you can easily skip IAL and check it out on DVD if you’re still interested at that point.

It doesn’t help that they were doing reshoots as of last month. Reshoots are always a bad sign.

I’m glad someone saw it i have been asking around seeing what the word was adn i like mat and everyone i hope loved the Price Film….I hate to hear they screwed it up. I was looking forward to it….now not so much oh well what else was there to be expected from the guy who did parents just don’t understand.
