David Lynch on format shifting

Here’s a vid of director David Lynch telling you in no uncertain terms what he thinks of watching movies on a portable device such as an iPhone. Personally, I think it’s a fine way to enjoy a movie. I respect that filmmakers have a vision and a notion of the best way to experience their work - but ultimately it’s a product that the consumer should be able to consume in whatever fashion they prefer.

David Lynch is great. When Inland Empire played at the Ross last year, he sent a handwritten note to them saying that he required they play the sound system at its highest during the film because he wanted the theatre to shake as if an earthquake was occurring while watching it.
