Splattercast 74…It’s Alive.
We give our usual host Jeff the night off so he can recover from the physical exertion of packaging and shipping all of those TGH dvd’s, and in his stead you get ME! This week, we review Larry Cohen’s It’s Alive trilogy and have a long discussion about nostalgia affecting the horror viewing experience that flies off into a tangent about practical vs. CG effects in movies. We then run down the dvd releases and Steve professes the hotness of a loyal listener. Steve, the Splattercast is not a vehicle for you to try and hook up
Enjoy!

Good cast, gents. And I agree with MaT, I think it was him, about re-watching films and how it can ruin the original experience. I’m tearing through lots of old Hammer classics now and they’re so often laughable.
However, I do stick it out and have found new stuff to appreciate. In other words, I have learned to expect a different experience, So while I’m not scared, I do love the commitment of some of the actors, the sets, the dialog, and the overall passion behind the ideas.
Again, good stuff.

On a Hellraiser note…the French guys who made that INSIDE movie you spoke of releasing to DVD were set to write and direct the new Hellraiser remake with Barker doing some producing…Barker stated he loved the ideas these guys had….apparently the studio did not like their script and they brought in the guys who did Feast and the new Saw flicks for that and now word is that the French directors either quit or were fired altogether. That movie Inside has a lot of positive buzz going for it , the unrated version is supposed to be really cool.

I loved Inside so much. It definitely had a lot of suffering, which Hellraiser… is.

It’s Alive always creeped me out… maybe because I was eight when I saw it.
I still love the movie poster though.

Great cast guys.
Steve, I’m flattered.
MaT, I have vowed not to play any computer games until September for fear of failing my degree, but as soon as that’s over, it’s ON!
Deejay, you rule.
Jeff and Brady, we missed you both.

And Inside is a pretty great film. I think you guys would love it. Very violent and bleak.
