HBO to pick up Reznor’s Year Zero?

my favorite band ever is Nine Inch Nails. I don’t listen to much music, but I’ll listen to anything Trent Reznor puts out. I consider The Downward Spiral, Broken, Pretty Hate Machine, and The Fragile amongst my favorite albums ever. That being said, I’m not above calling him out when he puts out some shitty music. As far as I’m concerned, he was a much more creative musically when he was on heroin instead of steroids.

That being said,  the L.A. Times did an interview in which Reznor states that he actually pitched the concept behind “Year Zero” to HBO. If there are any HBO executives reading this right now, let me give you some advice: GREENLIGHT THIS. Though the album is severely lacking, the whole concept behind it is really cool (basically, a conservative, fundamentalist Christian government takes over America in the aftermath of numerous terrorist attacks. They do all sorts of nefarious things such as banning art and lacing the water supply to keep citizens docile, etc.). This, if done properly, would make a totally kick ass television show. It’s epic, is filled with all kinds of the “controversy” that HBO needs to court right now, and would no doubt get Reznor’s legions of fans that continue to support him on tour after tour, album after shitty album, to subscribe.

Greenlight this, HBO. Hey T.J., don’t you have any contacts in L.A.? Do some arm twisting! Think how rad it would be if you’re doing graphic design work for a Nine Inch Nails TV show :)

  • They fired most of the Art Directors at HBO in the Home Entertainment department and replaced them with MARKETING drones. Fuck Entertainment Marketing people. So HBO is kinda crazy right now trying to catch up to the ever-leveling field of PayCable…Shotime is killing them.
