Sick Nurses

I just watched the 2007 Thai horror film Sick Nurses. I thought it was a lot of fun. At first, it appears to be yet another stringy-haired lady ghost flick nipping at the heels of Ringu & Ju-on. And yes, the ghost in the movie does have the hair in her face and the one creepy eye bugging out shtick going on.

However, I did find Sick Nurses to be fairly original. The ghost sort of has a Freddy Krueger sensibility, where she creates various supernatural set-pieces to trap her victims, playing off of little phobias or elements of their backstories. The plot had a bit more to it than “Oh no, this chick got killed and now her spirit’s all pissed off.” Sure, some of the plot turns are a little weird, even silly, but by the final reveal and the final beat of the movie, I was buying it.

And I can’t forget to mention the best part: The chicks in this movie are hot sauce. Plus nurses’ uniforms. I mean, come on. As I was looking for images to include in this blog post, I found some of the Thai movie posters. Apparently they had an ad campaign with multiple posters featuring the different female cast members.
