MaT’s Journal #15: a horror filled week
I’ve got a double decker of Jim Wynorski flicks lined up as DVD’s of Chopping Mall and Scream Queen Hot Tub Party arrived in my mailbox yesterday. I haven’t seen Chopping Mall in forever (loved it as a kid) and SQHTP is one of those weird oddities that I’ve always been curious about but never had the chance to see. I’m sure I would have loved that one as a kid, as well
After tonight’s late-night rendevouz with Barbara Crampton and Linnea Quigley, I plan on checking out Quarantine tomorrow afternoon. It’s a remake of a Spanish flick named Rec which I liked and recommend everyone check out (before they see Quarantine, if possible). Not a whole lot of reviews for Quarantine at Rotten Tomatoes but it’s currently getting a respectable 68% Fresh rating which is pretty good for most horror films. I’ll chat a bit about it on tomorrow’s Splattercast.
Speaking of the Splattercast, we’ve hit 100 episodes. Don’t forget to call 206-426-5306 to leave us a message. We’ve already gotten a few and one of them is going to make all of you shoot milk out of your nose.
This coming Saturday I’m going to a performance of a play called “An American Werewolf in Transylvania”. From what I hear, it’s going to be performed by kids and teenagers and is a spoof of Horror conventions that includes dumb tourists, gypsies, and of course, werewolves. I think it sounds fun. Seeing a play will be a nice change of pace from re-watching horror films I’ve seen a zillion times. Not that there is anything wrong with that, just that everybody should diversify every know and then.
Oh, and don’t forget to list your nominees for the 2nd Annual Splatcademy Awards. It’s only a few months away (this year is flying by!) and we want to make sure that no great film/performance/pair of breasts escapes our critical eyes.
