Why don’t we let four years pass before we start proclaiming that this country has changed for the better, hm? That sounds like a logical approach to me.
I’m going to wait until the current reign of terror is over to stop celebrating. Then we can get serious. In the meantime, a huge message has been sent to the world, and to both parties: 1) if you’re going to change things, keep pulling together and lets lift ourselves out of this infantile, divisive discourse that we’ve been mired in for starters, and 2) GOP, time to grow up, regroup and hang your predecessors. They were huge, huge c*nts.
Oh, and “thanks but no thanks,” Governor Palin. Phew.
It’s a relief to know that the world will instantly become a better place now that we can expect all kinds of censorship to pass through the Senate like greased lightning.
Clear a space for parental warning labels on EVERYTHING, and get out your I.D. for when you buy those hazardous video games. But by golly, it’s what’s best for the kids!
In related news, it seems California is now safe and sound from the threat of Teh Gay Divorce. Ellen is going to be pissed off something fierce.
I’m not closed to the idea that things will end up being pretty ok. In the meantime, I’m just pondering what all this means. This quote from To Sail Beyond The Sunset seems distressingly applicable.
It’s an interesting time to be an American, that’s for sure.
First, I don’t understand why Cali didn’t approve of the the gay marriages. I think they should be miserable like any other married couple.
Second, I believe things will change when the American people start doing things for themselves instead of sitting back and letting the president/government do the work for them.
If we put as much effort into improving the country ourselves as we did with the presidential campaign, then the country will eventually become a better place.
I’m happy to be alive to witness this historic event.
I think that the Republican party needs to do some soul searching now They are in a bit of a state, considering the results of the election favour democratic senators and members of the house as well as a president.
It’s all cyclical. The American people never stand to have one party in power for more than a couple election cycles. Republicans will be back in a few years.
However, I think they’ll be a very different party. I think they’ll cave on stuff like immigration.

Jeff, Karl Marx is a bit excessive, isn’t he. And it’s exactly what America does not need right now.

nobody knows what the future holds. It would be wise really to hold off on apocalypse and paradise alike. But a bit of optimism seems valid.

And for all those naysayers, go listen to Obama’s acceptance speech. It’s the best one I’ve ever heard.
