Outpost Doom has finally arrived

od2

Above is one of the action photos taken by Spooky McPhee a couple weekends back when we were finishing up pickup shots and whatnot. Does it get you in the mood for some tentacle-y Outpost Doom goodness? I certainly hope so!

November 7th is the public world premiere of our flick (at the Drunken Zombie Film Festival) but this Saturday we are having a special sneak screening for friends and family at the Grand Theatre (yep, the location we shot The Grand Horror at). We’re essentially going to be using our friends and family as a focus group to make sure everything is in tip top shape for the DZFF. I want to make sure the story is clear and what not before we take it to Peoria. Small, intimate crowd, but it’ll be exciting (and a bit nerve-wracking) to see the reaction to the film.

Anyways, if you are friends or family of anybody involved in the making of the film, c’mon out. Saturday, 2pm at the Grand Theatre, Grand Island, Nebraska. We’ll be congregating at Bonzai around noon, eating delicious pizza.

All the DL folk will be m.i.a. this weekend to attend the screening. It’ll be quiet around here for a few days.

A couple cool vids, hat-tips to Borp for the L4D2 trailer and to SCS forum for the edged weapons advice.

Homemade Animatronic Zombie

Hat-tip to @renderful for this video. Some dude is stepping up the Halloween decoration game with a bitchin’ homemade animatronic zombie. More info at HauntForum.com

The 3rd Annual Splatcademy Awards…only a few months away?

It’s sort of crazy that November is almost upon us, meaning that this year is just about over! Which means we need to start thinking about the 3rd Annual Splatcademy Awards. The 1st and 2nd years went amazingly well. We want to make number 3 better than both of them.

I’ve posted a new thread in the forum where one can post any ideas, suggestions, nominees, etc.

We’re open to any and all ideas. Should we do something different this year? Keep it the same? Add new categories? Add new segments?

Let us know what you think.

Splattercast 153: The Breast Cancer Awareness Special

splattercast153

Episode 153 is up and ready to download.

This week we dedicate the Splattercast to a special cause near and dear to all of our hearts (literally): saving boobs!

Our breast cancer awareness special is all about the greatness of breasts and why they should be saved. We give facts and info on prevention, Deejay explains how to give a Breast Self-Exam, and we discuss the role breasts have played in the horror genre. On top of that, we have a bunch of fans, celebs, and other podcasters who contributed material for the show. It’s two (see what I did there?) hours of mammary goodness.

A very special thanks to everyone who contributed, especially those who relayed tough stories about their own encounters with breast cancer, and helped make this one of the most rewarding Splattercast episodes we’ve ever done. And thanks to our great gal pal Ali who added immensely to the discussion and helped provide some covering fire from Deejay’s typical drunken rants :)

And apologies for some of the technical difficulties in the last half. Skype was acting stupid.

Here is a list of breast cancer charities and foundations you can donate to. And don’t forget, any donation to a charity this month and you’ll score a free, alternate black and white version of Outpost Doom. We’ll probably have that ready next month so get donating!

While you’re waiting…

Just a quick P.S. to Mat’s last post. While you’re waiting for the post-prod work to be finished on Splattercast #153, why not take a look at the companion forum thread?

Warning: it is definitely not safe for work! It’s full of naked ladies, is what I’m sayin’!

I like to plug the forum occasionally and, honestly, if you won’t click on a thread about topless scream queens, what will you click on?

Hurray for boobs!

We just finished recording our Breast Cancer Awareness Special. There is a lot of post-production work to do so it won’t be up until sometime tomorrow.

Special shout outs to everybody who sent in voicemails and e-mails!

And of course, a very special thank you to our friend Ali, who put up with our shenanigans.

Look for it tomorrow.
