Site changes – I want your input!
Hi everybody, whassup? Got some fun stuff lined up for Thanksgiving? Cool, that sounds great. Hey, listen, I need some help…
We’ve had site issues over the past two weeks and it’s prompted me to take a step back and evaluate some design elements of the home page. If you’ve been a regular visitor in the past, you’ll probably notice that the page looks pretty spartan right now. I’ve cut it way down and removed some bells and whistles.
I want to get back to basics and streamline the site. I’d love for you guys to share your thoughts with me, so post a comment or e-mail me at jeff@deadlantern.com
What’s your favorite part of the site? What content needs to be prominently displayed and easy to access? Thank you for your time and for your suggestions. Let’s make a leaner, meaner Dead Lantern!

This design is better than it ever has been. I think that a plugin which displays the contents of your Twitter feeed could work in the right panel.
With this little content, I think it would be much nicer if the page(specifically the content area) was a bit wider.
Also, if you’re using a forum which exposes RSS of the posts, or integrates with WordPress, it would be nice to expose the last few posts/topic names in the right column.

Thanks, Codey. I agree: some forum integration would be a great idea. I know some of my other favorite sites heavily integrate their forum content into their front pages.

Any chance we can have the links back? It doesn;t have to be on the front page just like a seperate page maybe?

I just thought it needed a little something to set off the plain field of #000000, y’know?
I like it.

I know it’s a horror web site and all, but white text on a black background is really hard to read. Not as bad as red on a green background, but still…
One suggestion I have is to have some kind of at-a-glance index for each blog category, eg. a list of all “Women in Horror” for easier access (so to speak)
