Some schedule changes – don’t freak out on me :)

Hey everybody, Jeff here. I need to announce that, in the near future, the Splattercast is no longer going to be a weekly show. Please understand: We are not ending the show entirely, it just won’t be coming out every single week. The Third Annual Splatcademy Awards are still coming on March 8th and will be better than ever. We’re also still going to burn Swexas to the ground in a few weeks.

I’ll take all of the responsibility for this shake-up. I came to the other guys a while back and told them that I was getting burned out and needed a break. They were very understanding and agreed that it would be okay to switch things around a bit. For me, it’s all about a lack of time. It’s gotten more and more difficult for me to find the time to do all of the work that goes into a decent podcast, especially on a weekly basis. I hope to regroup and figure out a schedule that I can handle. I really do think the Splattercast is a damned fine show when we’re on our game.

In the meantime, I am very excited that we will soon be expanding our roster of podcasts. We’re adding at least two new shows and maybe even more down the road. Mat is heading up The Blackfoot Lounge, which will focus on slasher films of the 70s-80s, and Explodey Jo will be debuting a new show paying homage to the X-Files. I’m trying to get Steve & Deejay to do a relationship advice podcast as well, but we’ll see. I’m also kicking around an idea for a hentai and MTG podcast (just kidding! or am I?) All of these new shows will appear in the existing Splattercast RSS feed so it should be very easy for everyone to check out all of the new stuff without any extra hassle.

Thank you very much for continuing to visit us here at Dead Lantern! Oh, and a little plug for our forum – it’s been more active than ever over the past couple of weeks so check it out.

  • I’m verklempt right now. But I promised myself I wouldn’t cry.

  • Don’t let the wishmaster episode be your last. You need to have a goodbye show.

  • I completely understand. You guys have been troopers and have muscled through long enough. When the show becomes more work than fun, there is no reason to record. I will miss my Tuesday/Wednesday runs with you guys in my ear, but I’ll take what I can get. I just want to say thanks to the whole crew for all the entertainment you have provided each week and will continue to listen to whatever and whenever you do put out shows.

  • The Wishmaster ep is #175, I think. That’s a good number to “go out” on :)

  • I’ll miss the weekly fix, but it’s better to have a great show once in a while, than to force one out each week if your heart isn’t in it.

And anyway, it’ll still be more regular than the ZombieGrrlz podcast :)

  • I want to do a “Behind the Podcasting” special, like those VH1 rock ones. We’re really disbanding because Jeff’s chocolate addiction is out of control. He just can’t perform like he used to. It’s embarrassing to all of us. And we’re all pretty pissed that T.J. keeps getting all of the chicks even though he only shows up when he wants to. We put in all the work, he gets all the reward.

And Deejay got drunk and killed a homeless person with his car. All of profits from Amazon are going to his legal defense team. That was the final straw for this podcast.

  • …. and Mat met and fell in love with a girl named Yoko

  • @Wave LOL

As long as the Splattercast doesn’t end as a whole, it’s all good I guess. To be honest I have 3 weeks of Splattercast episodes to catch up on. Ever since school started again I’ve fallen behind big time on my podcast needs.

  • Instead of 52 episodes a year, you’ll get like 10…if you’re lucky :)

  • So basically “Splattercast” is becoming like “Matlock”? The show has ended it’s run, but there will still be the occasional “Matlock” made for TV movie every so often (does this mean William Katt will be joining the cast?)?

At least I still have the reruns to tide me over in between.

  • Wicker, a Matlock reference????

So will the “10″ episodes equal out the same amount of time as the 52 episodes? 5 1/2 hour Splattercasts? :)

This isn’t going to happen but I’d be interested to see the longest you could go in a single cast.

  • I think the first special episode of the Splattercast should be on Sarah Palin’s down syndrome baby’s bday. We’ll review Retar-Dead and Special Dead.

  • Steve, we have to come back for Puppetmaster: Axis of Evil!

  • I fully support you guys doing another Puppetmaster episode!

  • What wiil I do at work now? Work???

  • Cry about how bad the Eagles are. That’ll keep you occupied until the day you die.

    :)

  • I’m sorry to hear it, but if it’s no longer fun, some shake-up is required. Here’s hoping a little time off will rejuvenate you, as you guys are one of the two podcasts I take time to listen to every week.

  • Folks

Thanks for the years of work you have put in to the Splattercast. Thoroughly enjoyable. It kinda figures, a few episodes back..or was it on the forum..Mat said I’m kinda over the whole Splattercast thing. Mat’s nothing if not honest with us. And Jeff, come on man..have a go. It’s not like having a better half and a youngen take any of your time.

So anyway, turn the page and we’re in to a slasher cast and an x-files cast. Fantastic stuff, looking forward to both.

    B
