New Fist of the North Star game hitting Japan
March 5th, 2010 by Jeff
I love Fist of the North Star so I hope this game gets released outside of Japan (it comes out there this month). I did a quick search but couldn’t find a confirmation of any American release.
It reminds me of seeing a cool trailer for a PS2 Berserk game a few years ago. Berserk is another of my favorite anime/manga properties and, sadly, I don’t believe the PS2 game has ever been localized for us gaijin. I suppose I could import a Japanese copy and fight through the foreign menus and text but that doesn’t sound very appealing.

There was a Berserk game released in the USA for the Sega Dreamcast years ago. Not sure if it’s the same one as in the video, but it looks like it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sword_of_the_Berserk

Yeah, I had (still have, I guess) that Dreamcast game. It’s not the same game as this Japanese PS2 thing. Granted, the Dreamcast game was pretty cool in its day. I should dust off the ‘ol Dreamcast one of these days. It was a really good system.

It really was; too bad it didn’t last longer. Jet Grind Radio and Shenmue were a couple of my favorite games back then.

Berserk is a good anime to watch if you really want to contemplate suicide for a couple days.
Jesus, that ending was depressing.

Steve, the most disappointing part of the Berserk anime is that the story in the manga keeps going way past where they left off in the show. I have the manga books up through #16 or #17. If you lived nearby I’d let you borrow them. They’re pretty cool.
The anime just leaves you hanging after that amazingly bizarre massacre at the eclipse.

That Fist Of The Northstar Game looks like Dynasty Warriors. It’s even made by the same developer. If I were you Jeff, I would rent Dynasty Warriors and see if you like that before you get too excited.

There has been ongoing rumors about a second season of Berserk that continues the story for as long as I’ve known about the series. A couple of months ago, though, some “leaked” screenshots of a new season that looks to take place during the “Convicion” arc. Even if they’re fake, do they ever look good.
In a perfect world, Peter Jackson would be devoting his energies to making a film adaptation of Berserk right now. I figure he’s the best guy for the job, what with his obvious history of making genuinely good fantasy and super gory horror flicks. Not to mention the fact that he has WETA workshop at his disposal, which beats the pants off of ILM (in my opinion). Not gonna happen though. Oh well, I suppose I’ll just have to be happy that a Walking Dead TV series is happening.

That would be awesome, tater. It’s so strange to end the original anime when the did. I mean, sure, it’s the end of a story arc, but it’s so damned tantalizing!
