This week we discuss the bizarre ending of Mass Effect 3 and discuss how to actually write a script in our new weekly How to Make a Movie segment. Also, Steve tries Morgan’s meatloaf and unfortunately couldn’t get a picture of it. But the recipe is listed below.

And sign up for the Dead Lantern March Madness group for a chance to win a grab bag of screeners and mystery prizes!

Morgan’s Hot Ass Meatloaf

  • 1 pound of ground beef
  • 2 hot Italian Sausages (for the ladies)
  • 1 cup Italian bread crumbs
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 green pepper, chopped
  • 1 egg (it’ll look like a dry mess until you add the egg)
  • 3 or 4 cloves of minced garlic
  • ketchup
  • tapatio hot sauce (some people use milk)

Flavor by adding any of the following

  • salt
  • pepper
  • a little balsamic vinegar (it never hurt anyone)
  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley
  • 1/4 cup parmesan

Form into a loaf in a shallow pan and cook at 350 for 1 hour 15 minutes. Best of luck!

Steve: Absolutely delicious. Falls apart completely when you try to take it out of the pan and it looks disgusting, but it tastes pretty incredible.

eXplodey Files 67: Teso Dos Bichos

The most amusement we get this week is discussing menses and renaming the episode “stiff critters” (thanks Julie).

On a brighter note, I need your suggestions for the upcoming interview with William B Davis, a.k.a. The Cigarette Smoking Man. I’ll be interviewing him on an upcoming eXplodey Files episode to promote his memoirs, Where There’s Smoke. Let me know if there’s anything you would like me to ask him!

Splattercast #270: Pasta Pomodoro!

Download Now

This week we get into a long discussion about the disturbing/boring flick MEGAN IS MISSING. We also talk about how to prepare a movie concept and I try Lauren’s delicious Pasta Pomodoro! Her recipe after the jump, with my slight alterations.

LAUREN’S PASTA POMODORO

Ingredients

  • Half a box of spaghetti
  • 1 can of diced tomatoes
  • 1 diced onion (I used a mushroom)
  • 1 tbs dried basil or a handful of fresh basil leaves or 1 tbs fresh basil chopped in the squeezy tube
  • 3 tbs olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon chopped garlic in jar or 3 garlic cloves chopped (I also added spinach leaves and parsley)

Instructions

1. Boil the spaghetti. While it’s boiling………

2. Put 1 tbs of the olive oil in a skillet and heat the onion on medium heat until translucent, add the garlic and let cook for a minute. Add the can of diced tomato, juice and all, and basil and let simmer for a good 8-10 mins. If you want it a little sweeter, add a teaspoon of sugar. A little saltier- shake some parmesean cheese in. Add the rest of the olive oil stir.

3. The pasta is probably cooked at this point. Strain the pasta and put it back in the pot you boiled it in and add the saucy stuff to the pasta and stir.

That’s it.

(I also garnished with a slice of Texas Toast)

Mat’s review: Both my girlfriend and I thought this was a tasty dish. It is quick and easy and definitely something we’ll make again. It is very tomato-y and though I substituted mushrooms for the onion, I couldn’t taste them very well. Still it’s a dish that can be experimented with so give it a shot!
