Rich Kuras polls Azeroth

Noteworthy because Dead Lantern Films heartthrob Jeremy C. spends lots of time in Azeroth. I think he plays a gnome; I’m not sure.

I’d rather watch paint dry.

You guys all pumped up for the big Obama infomercial tonight?

Me neither.

I do suppose it’s significant when a campaign has so much extra cash that they can blow millions on a single one-time advertisement. I think Ross Perot did something similar, but I wasn’t really paying attention back then.

Anyway, I’m skipping this one. I’ll pick up the highlights from the news sites later tonight and, of course, I’m eager to hear how many boxes of tissue Mat goes through as he watches it – if he makes it back from the Black Blood screening in time, that is! (genuine best wishes on the screening, by the way)

Ways they could make the debate worth watching

I’m sure Mat will post some staggeringly profound analysis of the debate later on tonight. In the meantime, you might check out Cracked’s list of 20 ways they could make the debate worth watching.

I myself may skip the debate, as I want to tune in to Mat & Deejay’s new show, A Work In Podcast, debuting at 9:00pm Central. Maybe Deejay will do some real-time debate coverage?

Also: Transvestite voter fraud. It’s surprising how unsurprising I find this.

Veep Debate: Toss-up?

So, the much-anticpated VP debate between Joe Biden & Sarah Palin is over. If you ask me, Palin “won” this one, but not by much. I’m sure a Biden supporter would tell you that he was the victor. I guess, realistically, it amounts to a toss-up, a tie.

There’s all this weird fuzzy math out there that says, “A tie is actually a win for X because blah blah blah.” Hey, I’m a nuanced guy. I understand that many things are not just cut-and-dried. However, if you’re going to tell me that so-and-so “won” because they tied, or they “won” because “hey, at least they didn’t f*ck up.” …I’m not impressed with that. I wish we’d see a few more throats get torn out, a few more clear victors.

That’s throats torn out rhetorically, of course.

Dude, it’s already over.

That’s my answer to Mat’s previous post, “Will it end tomorrow?” (the VP debate) - I say, dude, it’s over right now. Seriously, unless some insane “October surprise” materializes, I don’t see how McCain’s stagnant campaign can regain enough ground to surpass O’Biden.

McCain has been doing everything wrong these past couple of weeks. My wild guess is that, even at this late hour, McCain just doesn’t “get it.” He still thinks he’s a media darling, a loveable maverick who gets buckets of kudos for thumbing his nose at his own party. It hasn’t sunk in with him that, while the media may like him most of the time, when set against a true-blue hard-left socialist liberal like Obama, there’s no way in hell that they’re not going to drop McCain like a sack of hot rocks.

I love Neal Boortz, used to listen to his show all the time (I can’t pick it up here in Lincoln anymore, 95.1 went “adult contemporary” lulz). He’s got a very sobering commentary in his show notes today. In short, he’s certain that McCain will lose. For what it’s worth, Boortz was also sure that Kerry would win, too… so maybe there’s a glimmer of hope.

Eight-year-olds, Dude.

Update: The embedded video is not working for some folks. Here is the YouTube url: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TW9b0xr06qA

There has been a lot of activity around this video on the YouTube site over the last 24 hours; it’s been one of those things that explodes and racks up many thousands of views in a short period of time. A number of clever response & parody videos have also been taken down.

Here’s some silly bullshit for ya. Of course, it’s silly like a fox since they’re totally going to win. Good to see that they’ll have an “Obama Youth” program ready to go on day one.

So I guess we’re a political blog now…

…which is fine; ’tis the season after all. And, to be honest, it’s not like I do a very good job of making genre-related posts anyway. I probably average 3 or 4 per month, which is pretty weak on my part :P

I appreciate that Mat’s a drooling Obama sycophant. Lots of intelligent film students are. I mean, if Matt Damon is voting Obama, that’s a pretty compelling endorsement. And it’s not just Damon and liberal college kids, either. Indeed, the rest of the world wants Obama to win. But then, the rest of the world thinks a lot of things.

I still think Obama & Biden will probably win, even if Biden himself doesn’t think he’s the best (wo)man for the job. I’ve come to terms with it. Even if Obama didn’t have this celebrity movement behind him, everything is cyclical and it’s “just time” for a party switch in the White House. In fact, as a gesture of goodwill, I just ordered an Obama book from Amazon.com as a gift for Mat. I can’t wait to give it to him. Don’t worry, Mat, it’s not some trashy exposé. The book I chose for you is decidedly pro-Obama.
