The Dead Lantern Fantasy Football League, 2008 edition, is back. Last year, we had six teams vying for the trophy. I don’t mean to brag or anything, but I kicked everyone’s ass 
I’m currently activating our league and a thought occured to me: Wouldn’t it be cool if we opened up the league to our fans as well? So without talking it over with anyone else here at Dead Lantern, I’m going to do just that. If you’d like to be invited into our fantasy football league, send me an e-mail at:

What was billed as the biggest week of the year was completely uneventful and not suspenseful in the slightest.
Crystal Lake Counselors (MaT) defeats STD Zombies (Steve)
The Fandango’s (Carlin) defeats The Fudge Bay Packers (Jeremy)
Foul Smelling Discharge (Jeff) defeats 49ers (Nate)
Here’s the current standings:
- Crystal Lake Counselors: 7-1
- STD Zombies: 5-3
- Foul Smelling Discharge: 5-3
- The Fandango’s: 3-5
- The Fudge Bay Packers: 2-6
- 49ers: 2-6
What the heck happened this week? It started off a little strangely when it was revealed that Jeremy didn’t fill out his starting roster, causing Carlin to win by default 103-16. Then the “Brother vs. Brother” showdown turned out to be a dud. Jeff handily dismantled Nate 107-69. By the way Nate, thanks for refusing to trade Chad Johnson to me! Then the Clash of the Titans, the battle of the top two teams of Steve and Mat, fizzled as Tom Brady accounted for a zillion more touchdowns and the STD Zombies were blown away by the Counselors of Crystal Lake 147-87.
Next week offers some intriguing matchups. Foul Smelling Discharge takes on the Counselors in hopes of gaining ground in the standings, The Fandango’s are in a must-win situation against the STD Zombies, and Nate looks forward to the only bright spot on his schedule: when he plays the Fudge Bay Packers.

Week 6 came and went. Injuries and bye weeks are beginning to take their toll on all teams.
Crystal Lake Counselors (MaT) defeats 49ers (Nate)
The STD Zombies (Steve) defeats The Fudge Bay Packers (Jeremy)
Foul Smelling Discharge (Jeff) defeats The Fandango’s (Carlin)
Here’s the current standings:
- Crystal Lake Counselors: 6-1
- STD Zombies: 5-2
- Foul Smelling Discharge: 4-3
- The Fandango’s: 2-5
- The Fudge Bay Packers: 2-5
- 49ers: 2-5
Week 8 will be the most important week thus far as all the games have added significance now that the playoffs are creeping closer and closer. Only the top 4 teams advance, meaning Carlin, Jeremy, and Nate are going to have to dig deep to see who comes out in the 4th slot. This week, Nate’s 49ers try to get a must win against FSD. Brother vs. Brother, classic! In the “Somebody’s Gotta Win It” Bowl, Jeremy takes on Carlin. I’m going to go out on a limb and say the loser of this game is pretty much toast the rest of the way. Can’t wait to see the outcome of this one. And last but not least, we’ve got the biggest game of the year. Mat’s Crystal Lake Counselors try not to be eaten by Steve’s STD Zombies. Not only is this a battle of the two top teams, but it has bigger implications. If CLC wins, they go up two games half-way through the season. If STD wins, then there is a tie at the top and gives the other squads (particularly Jeff’s) reason for hope.

Next week, the STD Zombies try to prevent some Foul Smelling Discharge, The Fandango’s look to find a healthy player to take on the 49ers, and the Crystal Lake Counselors head to Fudge Bay for a little Packing.

As some of you may or may not know, the guys at Deadlantern are locked in a mortal battle to the death for not only bragging rights, but for a small golden trophy with a football player on the top. Yeah, we’re serious. And that’s why each weekend feels like a Mortal Kombat tournament. So, follow your favorite Dead Lantern personalities with this weekly update on the season’s progress.
