Some schedule changes – don’t freak out on me :)

Hey everybody, Jeff here. I need to announce that, in the near future, the Splattercast is no longer going to be a weekly show. Please understand: We are not ending the show entirely, it just won’t be coming out every single week. The Third Annual Splatcademy Awards are still coming on March 8th and will be better than ever. We’re also still going to burn Swexas to the ground in a few weeks.

I’ll take all of the responsibility for this shake-up. I came to the other guys a while back and told them that I was getting burned out and needed a break. They were very understanding and agreed that it would be okay to switch things around a bit. For me, it’s all about a lack of time. It’s gotten more and more difficult for me to find the time to do all of the work that goes into a decent podcast, especially on a weekly basis. I hope to regroup and figure out a schedule that I can handle. I really do think the Splattercast is a damned fine show when we’re on our game.

In the meantime, I am very excited that we will soon be expanding our roster of podcasts. We’re adding at least two new shows and maybe even more down the road. Mat is heading up The Blackfoot Lounge, which will focus on slasher films of the 70s-80s, and Explodey Jo will be debuting a new show paying homage to the X-Files. I’m trying to get Steve & Deejay to do a relationship advice podcast as well, but we’ll see. I’m also kicking around an idea for a hentai and MTG podcast (just kidding! or am I?) All of these new shows will appear in the existing Splattercast RSS feed so it should be very easy for everyone to check out all of the new stuff without any extra hassle.

Thank you very much for continuing to visit us here at Dead Lantern! Oh, and a little plug for our forum – it’s been more active than ever over the past couple of weeks so check it out.

Download the Dead Lantern Horror Toolbar

Mits777 from the Horrorphilia Podcast created a spiffy web toolbar for our listeners and readers. Download it here. Here’s the details:

The toolbar works with firefox, internet explorer and for those with a mac on safari. The toolbar is packed with all kind of goodies. From left to right we have the Dead Lantern logo that takes you right to Dead Lanterns homepage. Next item is a google search box. After that is a direct link to the Dead Lantern Forums. One of my favorite items next is the drop down box rss feeds to all the top horror sites. It has updated feeds to Arrow in the Head, Bloody Good Horror, Brutal As Hell, Dead Lantern (of course), Dread Central, Esplatter, Fangoria, Fearnet, Horrorphilia, Horror 101, Horror Asylum, Horror Blips, Horror Movies.Ca, Horror Squad, Horrors Not Dead, Shock Till You Drop and Upcoming Horror Movies.

Next in line is my favorite item. The Horror Podcast player. Click on the down arrow and it gives you instant access to all your favorite horror casts including the Splattercast, 19 Nocturne Blvd, Blood, Bullets, and Broads, Bloody Good Horror, Dark Gate Horror, Dread Central, Dried Blood, Drunken Zombie, Fear Shop, Goreboy Radio, Horror Etc, Horror Junk, Jafmp, Mail Order Zombie, Mondo Movie, Motion Picture Massacre, Night of the Living Podcast, Rue Morgue Radio, Slackers Ate My Neighbors, The Cadaver Lab, and Zombie Grrlz.

Wait theres still more. There is also a twitter update icon that shows live updates from Dead Lantern(Jeff), T.J., Explodey Jo, Jackie, Borp, Me, Teen Idol, Fake Larry, Zombie Grrl Rachel and Drunken Zombie. Next item is the direct link to Netflix. After that is a direct link to one of my favorite sites Asian-Horror-Movies.com where you can stream over 300 of the best Asian horror movies for free. For those with Skype it can also be launched right from the toolbar with the Skype icon. Final Item on the toolbar is a mail catcher where you can put in all your email addresses and fetch from there. Another cool thing about the toolbar is it can be updated at any time and it will be updated on your computer in real time without have to redownload. More sites and podcasts to come. I hope everyone enjoys and let me know if you want something else added to it.

Wow. This is very cool and on behalf of everybody here at the Splattercast, we can’t express how grateful and appreciative we are that Mits took the time to put this all together. It’s a wonderful, unexpected gift. I just downloaded it and I can’t tell you how handy it is to have everything at your fingertips  in one swell toolbar. We can’t thank you enough, Mits!

Everybody please be sure to check out the Horrorphilia Podcast. These guys are awesome and have our full support.
