According to this site, here is a preview of the Grand Prix Lincoln playmat art. It’s by Ron Spencer, a really wonderful Nebraska artist. I’m considering taking the day off of work so I can get to the event center right at opening – I will be super bummed out if I can’t get my hands on one of these mats!
Info about the new MTG set, Innistrad, is starting to come out. It’s going to have a gothic horror theme, with werewolves and ghosts and other spooky crap. I’m really excited for this because it marries my love of the game with a genre-oriented setting.
Even if you don’t care about the game, check out the art at A Planeswalker’s Guide to Innistrad. I like the somber mood these preview pieces are giving off.
I often mention that I like to play Magic: The Gathering, and I recently had the opportunity to appear on an MTG podcast; it was a lot of fun for me. Thanks to Tangent and the gang at Mana Screwed for having me on. Check out the episode here.
I wasn’t planning on getting Mortal Kombat but while at the store yesterday I was all “F*ck it.”
I’ve never been a huge MK fan, nor a fan of fighters in general because I suck pretty bad at them. But I’ve got money to burn and I justify it by saying “I love my country and want to support its economy.” So anyways, now 3 of the 4 Splattercast hosts own MK (Steve, Jeff, and myself). We’ll be ripping each others spines out this weekend, probably starting tonight. So if any of you listeners have the game and have always wanted to kick my ass…well, now you can!
The fall large set has been announced, it’s called Innistrad and the tagline is “Horror Lurks Within.” The announcement has a new teaser image of black-aligned planeswalker Liliana Vess. I’m stoked on the possibility of a horror-flavored MTG set. That’s like chocolate + peanut butter!
