Whistling Past the Paint Program

Hello everyone! After many starts and stops, it seems we’ve finally got something going with our long talked about webcomic “Whistling Past the Graveyard”.

If you head on over to the site you’ll find a few test comics that Steve, Jeff, and I have posted. I think the idea is that each Splattercast member is going to have a different art “style”, but for now we’re just trying to learn the paint programs. I think the other guys are planning to do one-shot strips but I’m thinking of actually doing a semi-continual strip with recurring characters. Maybe a story. I’m not sure. I think we’ll all figure out the structure at a later date.

But for now, enjoy our test strips. Let us know what you like and what you don’t like. Feel free to give us some ideas, things you’d like to see, etc. We’re newbies in this, so we need all the help we can get :)

Whistling Past the Graveyard Kinda sorta returns…maybe…

As long time readers may know, we’ve been trying to get an internet comic going since, I think, our very conception back when we were cannedpeople.com (don’t ask). If you’ve clicked on the link that says Whistling Past the Graveyard on our menu bar, you’ll see Jeff’s swell comics. As you can see, it’s updated infrequently. That might (heavy emphasis because I make no promises :) ) be about to change.

It all started with forum poster ToxSick who directed us to this fun site called Stripcreator. The site lets you play around with an easy comic creator using established characters from popular webstrips. It has sort of rejuvenated our outlook on the dormant Whistling Past the Graveyard “franchise”. We’re thinking maybe we should do something with this. As an example, here’s some quick strips that have been posted, the first 3 by forum poster Fake Larry and the last 2 by me.

So what do you guys think? Would you like to see a comic strip starring the guys from the Splattercast? Ideas, thoughts, feedback?

Like I said, we’re just sort of in the “Let’s do it!” phase that we’ve been in about a thousand times before. But maybe if we get that extra oomph from the listeners and readers, we might just take the plunge for real this time

WPTG updated

I have posted the popular Freddy meets Chris Hansen comic over at Whistling Past The Graveyard. Again, credit goes to Kingmob for the original idea; I just cranked out a quick Photoshop gag.

In case you didn’t know, Whistling Past The Graveyard is our much-neglected webcomic site. It’s only been updated a handful of times. I suppose I could pretty much just scrap WPTG and post any comic ideas we have here on the main Dead Lantern site; that would be easier for everyone.

I think my problem is that I’m just really in love with that domain name, so I want to keep something up there :D

Chris Hansen Meets Freddy

I just had to throw this up on the main page because of its sheer awesomeness. Special thanks go to Kingmob for the idea, and Jeff for creating the visual.

The context of this involves us discussing the proposed ANOES remake on the forum. Kingmob posted the quote of the day:

“Maybe they can just modernize the thing all the way around and have Chris Hansen and the Dateline team luring a pre-burning Freddy to a remote house while some kid’s parents are allegedly on vacation.”

I’m sure this will be showing up shortly over at Whistling Past the Graveyard.
